Angel Outreach is a ministry of Holy Angels Church to provide assistance and support to parishioners of all ages who find themselves in spiritual or physical need. Services that are provided include transportation (e.g. to and from appointments), run errands, visits to the sick, communion to the homebound, caregiver support, emergency child care, occasional meals, etc.
New Beginnings is a single adult social and service group. Members range in age from 30's to 60's and is open to all widowed, divorced and single adults. We offer the opportunity to make new friends and have fun attending various social functions. Activities are generally low in cost and scheduled a few weeks in advance. We balance our social activities with community services such as volunteering at various Holy Angels parish events and the Cleveland Foodbank.
This annual favorite has been a big success in bringing our community together. In December, we host a Sunday morning potluck brunch at Holy Angels to welcome new members to the community and renew old friendships. Help is needed from planning, to serving and cleaning up.
Once each month donuts and coffee are available in the Community Room after all the Sunday Masses (usually the third Sunday of the month). The hosts just need to arrive early for Mass to make coffee and set out the donuts and then stay to clean up afterward. This ministry is for those who like to make coffee and socialize with friends.
In the Empty Nesters Organization, adults with common interests come together to enjoy a wide variety of activities. Known as one of the most fun and active groups in the parish, Empty Nesters offers a full calendar of events year round, ranging from exploring the outdoors to enhancing spirituality and much in between. The group currently boosts well over a hundred members, singles and couples, with an age span of more than thirty years. Truly, something for everybody, regardless of the state of your particular nest.
When our parishioners experience the death of a family member, we offer families the opportunity of having a luncheon at Holy Angels after the funeral service for their loved one. It consists of a standard menu including a party tray of meats and cheeses, supplemented with hot side dishes, salads and desserts. We need volunteers to set-up, to serve, to clean up and to provide the side dishes. Many hands make for light work. This is another concrete way of expressing support to parishioners in their time of need.
This annual parish potluck is held before the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday. Everyone from the parish is invited to attend. Bring your favorite potluck dish and a beverage to share with your church family. Something special is always planned for the children. Help is always needed in planning, serving and cleaning up the evening of the event.
Holy Angels values its reputation as a warm and welcoming community. The Hospitality Committee seeks volunteers to set-up and serve refreshments for various events.
If there is any one event during the year where many hands make hard work easy, this is it. With so many people involved from setup and food, to games and cleanup, this is a fun time for everyone. The potluck meal is sumptuous. The games for kids of all ages are exciting. The community spirit is heart-warming.
The purpose of the Sew Faithful is to gather together in a prayerful spirit and create lap quilts for members of our parish community who need comfort and spiritual support. They also make keepsake pillows for baptisms. Sew Faithful focuses on the unique abilities of their members. Sewing skills are not a requirement to join and the enrollment is always open.
